Garden of the Gods at Night!

Ride the Starlight Spectacular, June 21, 2008 - 11:59 pm, Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center

Imagine starting your ride near midnight through the world-reknown Garden of the Gods Park. Majestic red rock formations greet you as you ride west from the Visitor Center. Turning north you will find yourself winding through the park seeing is as few others do. The park is normally closed at night to visitors. From there, you will get back on 30th Street and begin your ride through the streets of Colorado Springs. You have the option of coming back into the Garden at Balanced Rock or you may ride the Foothills Trail back to the Visitor Center.

There are a number of options for the ride. If you wish to not ride the hills of the park, you may take the short 14-mile ride along Garden of the Gods Road to Chestnut. Along the way, you will have two rest stops sponsored by the Colorado Springs Cycling Club, REI and Old Town Bike Shop. Additionally, there will be a maintenance stop at Balanced Rock at the south end of Garden of the Gods park

Lights are a must for the ride, both front and rear. It can be very dark in the Garden and lights will make you more easily seen by motorists on city streets.

Stop and enjoy our rest stops. Below the characters from the Wizard of Oz invite everyone to stop at the Cycling Club's stop at Bancroft Park.
